Min Choon Lee

As a lawyer, Min Choon has been involved in civil liberties litigation especially for religious minorities in Malaysia. As relations between the Muslim majority and minority communities worsened in recent years, Min Choon and some friends started an initiative to encourage people from the various religious communities to reach out to each other in friendship, tolerance, understanding and acceptance.

Malaysia is a multi-racial and multi-religious society. While there are differences and conflicts, its people have always found a way to move forward together. The Constitution of Malaysia is a unique model of seeking solutions to what would otherwise be insoluble problems. The politics of Malaysia rest on power-sharing between different communities. The personality and values of the Malaysian people are drawn not only from their own ethnic and religious culture but also borrow significantly from the other communities to shape a distinctly Malaysian identity.
