Tony Budidjaja

Tony Budidjaja is an accredited mediator and arbitrator in Indonesia and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb).
He sits on the panel of approved mediators and arbitrators of domestic and international dispute resolution institutions, including the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA), the Indonesian Commodities Arbitration Body (BAKTI), the Indonesia National Board of Arbitration (BANI), and the Conflict Resolution Unit (CRU) of the Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD).

Tony has more than 20 years’ standing as a legal counsel with extensive experience and expertise in various practice areas, namely Commercial Dispute Resolution (both in Indonesia and overseas); Environment, Energy, and Natural Resources; Government Affairs and Public Policy.


Other than having decades of experience as a legal counsel, Tony is also known as co-founder and/or management board members of many social organizations aiming to eradicate poverty and corruption, or to promote the progressive development of democracy, human rights and rule of law.

 

Tony is also the founder and chairman of the Indonesian Academy for Mediators and Arbitrators (MedArbId), a foundation established to provide a platform for lawyers, arbitrators, mediators, judges, and policy makers to explore how we, as dispute resolution stakeholders, can play a bigger and more positive role in providing access to justice.

Tony believes that today’s and future legal professionals must be equipped and empowered with the ability and determination to restore and maintain professionalism, independence and integrity of the legal profession, while at the same time, promote the rule of law and pursue true values of justice.
